I’m kicking off a new series to share my personal 1stDibs favorites page.
One of my favorite destinations.
Like many, 1stDibs holds a special place in my heart for many reasons. Not only does it house some of my deepest $$$ desires, but it was also one of my very first clients.
A little history & learnings from the project:
1stDibs began in 2001 as a platform for the Paris Flea Market dealers to showcase their collections to a broader audience by charging a small fee for listings. What started as a simple concept quickly evolved into a global online marketplace, offering rare antiques, vintage treasures, and art from top-tier dealers and galleries around the world. It became the go-to destination for luxury shoppers looking for unique, hard-to-find items that couldn’t be found in traditional retail spaces.
As the platform grew, 1stDibs expanded to include modern and contemporary design, luxury fashion, fine jewelry, and more. This of course attracted a wide array of buyers—from designers and collectors to art enthusiasts—solidifying it as the ultimate destination for anyone with an eye for the extraordinary.
After weeks of research with dealers and customers, it became clear that people shop on 1stDibs not out of necessity, but for the thrill of the hunt—searching for that one special piece to fall in love with. I recently co-wrote a piece on the future of resale and vintage shopping, where we talk about how AI is shaping the future of our shopping experiences. While I completely agree AI has its place and helps save time, it will never replace the excitement of finding that perfect, one-of-a-kind item.
At least not for me, someone who loves wandering through antique shops in CT on weekends (and occasionally stumbling upon a vintage lamp I didn’t know I needed).
So I hope you enjoy! I feel like I’m sharing my darlings.
Hand-Blown Murano Burri Vase in Clear with 24-karat Gold Flecks: Starting off with a bang—I'm a sucker for a good vase, and this one would look perfect on any table.
Asian Art Deco Style Silver and Black Lacquered Jewelry Box 1980s: I honestly have no words for this one—if you're not grabbing her, I definitely will! She’s the coolest.
Incense Holder Modern Walnut Wood and Antiqued Bronze Casting: Do I currently burn incense at home? No. Do I want to start just so I can place this piece of art on my coffee table? Absolutely.
Set of 4 Just Andersen Card Dishes in Pewter from Denmark in Original Box: Any Just Andersen piece is the ultimate collector's item, and these card dishes are no exception.
Realist Antique American Equine Horse Portrait Framed Original Oil Painting: Art will forever be the bane of my existence. I love it so dearly, but finding the perfect piece for your space at the right price can be a challenge. I’m always drawn to an equestrian moment, and the best trick in the game? Reframing.
Silver Shell Rest Gift Set: Any dinner party with my silverware resting on shells is my kind of party.
Mid Century Silver Plate Pitcher with Bird Handle Attributed to Los Castillo: I’d probably love you forever if I saw this on your dinner table. Pour me another!
Solid Walnut Sculptural Jewelry Box by Eric Arcese: It's true—one can never have too many tiny boxes to stash things you'll inevitably forget about. I love the wood color of this one, and its sculptural shape will add the perfect touch to your shelves.
Set of 4 Chairs by Franco Asnaghi Italy 1960s: If I were shopping for our dining room chairs again, these would be high on my list. They're simple yet elevated, and I love that they come as a set. This is also a decent price for a set of designer furniture!
Josef Hoffmann & Wiener Werkstaette Jugendstil Table Lamp Re Edition: A table lamp that will literally look good anywhere.
Pro tip: If you're making an offer on 1stDibs, keep in mind that most dealers will accept offers around 30% off. Start a bit higher, and you’ll usually land somewhere close to that.
Never settle for full price!
