Today's post is a fun one—a special one.
I spoke with the Still Here team—New York’s cult-loved denim whisperers—on the launch of their newest silhouette: the Sport Jean, arriving this Thursday, July 24.
Mark it in your calendar. Write it on your hand. Tattoo it on your ankle (don’t). But don’t miss it. Or better yet—sign up here for early access and thank yourself later.
If there’s anything you buy this summer, I’m telling you, it’s this.
I’ve been a longtime fan of Still Here not just because they make incredible jeans, but because they’ve somehow cracked the code on creating new denim that feels vintage—in the best way. It’s no surprise, though, considering the brand is built around a kind of nostalgic denim romanticism. Founders Sonia and Maurice Mosseri didn’t just design jeans; they designed a feeling.
Specifically, the feeling of slipping on a pair of your dad’s old Levi’s, the ones with ink stains, patched knees, and history baked into every crease.
If you know Still Here, you know their pieces always have that nostalgic touch, but with a modern, effortless silhouette that feels cool without trying too hard. The Sport Jean is no exception. They’re perfectly low-rise, waistband-free (read: zero dig, all comfort), and wear like that perfect flea market find you’ve been hunting for.
But the twist—the part you didn’t know you needed until now — is the hem. A built-in drawstring so you can toggle between a cinched, tapered jeanie-leg and a relaxed puddle, depending on your mood (or your shoe).
They come in three colorways: Classic Blue (feat. above), Milk (a soft, chalky white), and Pear (a muted, khaki-toned green that reads as a surprisingly easy neutral).
Still Here has a way of turning “controversial” denim silhouettes into must-haves, and the Sport Jean is their next big move. Think of it as the anti-skinny jean you’ll actually want to live in. It’s a little sporty, a little unique (in a good way), and exactly the kind of jean that gets you compliments in line at Meadow Lane (is it open yet?).
And lucky for you, dear readers, I’ve got the inside scoop—how the Sport Jean came to life, what makes it different, and exactly when and where you can snag a pair.
What inspired the creation of the Sport Jean?
The Sport Jean was inspired by the magic of old-school nylon track pants and a love for clean, simple, feminine tailoring. Sonia started designing it over a year ago, and the fit is just right—baggy through the leg, but super flattering at the waist. It feels unique but still easy to style in a classic way.
How is the Still Here team styling the Sport Jean?
Mostly keeping it simple and easy with The Undershirt (Editor’s note: a closet staple of mine) and basic flip-flops or sandals. But there’s definitely some good summer energy from anklets, Puka shell necklaces, and toe rings mixed in too.
Who would you love to see wearing the Sport Jean?
New customers who haven't found their dream fit yet and our loyal customers who don't miss a drop are always top of mind for us. And honestly, seeing Zoë Kravitz, Jennifer Lawrence, or Katie Holmes wearing them would be pretty amazing.
What’s topping your current inspo list?
Our Summer Style Guide has been a favorite around here. Summer in the city, quick escapes to nearby beaches—that whole mood always sparks ideas for our product launches. Since our pieces and ethos are all about everyday dressing, the dream destination is really wherever you're going (or not going), any time of year.
When and where can we get our hands on the Sport Jean?
You can shop the Sport Jean exclusively on our website and at our NYC stores starting Thursday, July 24th. If you're reading this, you're in the know—online access opens an hour early at 11 AM ET on stillhere.nyc with the code SPORT.
They’ll also be available IRL at both stores (268 Elizabeth Street and 905 Madison Avenue) starting at 12 PM ET.
Function meets fashion—on purpose
Given the namesake, I took a crack at styling them with a nod to classic rom-coms and that golden era of sports, when tomboy charm reigned and your clothes moved with you—subtle flexes, big energy.
To me, the perfect jean lives somewhere between the trailhead and a city sidewalk—minimalist, a little utilitarian, but always pulled together. Add in technical fabrics, sporty lenses, and a Still Here silhouette crisp enough to carry the whole look.
Think Andie Anderson in rolled-down denim, curls soft and wild. Patrick Swayze with wet hair and biceps big enough to launch Baby into the stratosphere. Maria Sharapova in a visor, ponytail tight, ready for business. The Williams sisters in matching sets, beads clicking with every serve.
Back when sport wasn’t just something you did—it was a style statement.

Camp Kellerman—vintage romance, modern twist
When the air gets thick with nostalgia and the only plan is to pack light and feel everything, go vintage.
Baby might not have come to Kellerman’s to fall in love or master the mambo, but she did. And she probably did it in something like the Sport Jean.
This look channels what I imagine packing for a summer in the Catskills might feel like—powered by a dusty Dirty Dancing VHS and the delusional confidence that yes, I can absolutely learn the cha-cha by Labor Day. Think late-summer nights tangled in white linen sheets, early mornings in a tied-up blouse, and just enough mystery to make the dance instructor say he’s never felt this way about a guest before.
The Sport Jean is kind of perfect for that energy. Like the jeans you'd throw on after practicing lifts in the lake, or before sneaking off to meet Johnny behind the staff lodge. Pair them with a 1996 Dolce & Gabbana top (the kind that makes you say, "I don’t normally do this"), an early-2000s Gucci by Tom Ford bag that looks expensive because it is, and a midcentury frame holding a black-and-white photo—proof that you had the time of your life.
Bonus points if you carry a Stila palette in your tote. Double if you actually use it.
The vibe? A little romance, a little rebellion.
The look? Camp Kellerman core—with the '80s in your weekender.

Sport mode, the jean that plays to win
Summer wardrobes, like summer selves, live for contradictions.
Breezy but bold, undone but intentional.
The Sport Jean gets it. It’s not trying to dress like an athlete, it’s dressing like the idea of one. The off-duty kind. The post-practice, pre-smoothie, maybe-I-play-padel-but-maybe-I-just-date-someone-who-does kind.
Style them with a vintage sport top and flip-flops that toe the line between “casually thrown on” and “did she forget pants?” It’s confusing, it’s cool, it’s confident enough not to care. You didn’t come here to play the game—you came to change the vibe.
Because this isn’t just sportswear. It’s a mindset. A serve-and-volley of grace and grit—like that unmistakable Sharapova grunt: unapologetic, slightly dramatic, and possibly erotic? So lace up (or don’t), grab your racquet, and remember…
It’s never just the match. It’s the legacy you wear.

There have been a lot of slam-dunks (never too many puns) in the world of denim, but not one like this before. The Sport Jean serves looks, comfort, and off-duty cool in one unbeatable package.
So get ready to ace your wardrobe game this Thursday, July 24th.
Set your alarms, clear your schedule, and prepare to show up where the real winners are—Still Here, the only place that knows how to keep you stylish, comfortable, and ahead of the curve. Because when it comes to denim, why settle for a fault when you can score the winning point?
Game, set, match.
Trophy’s waiting. Go get it.
